The Hyundai Kona comes equipped with an array of Hyundai SmartSense active safety features that are designed to act like a second set of eyes on the road while you’re driving. Some features—like Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Warning (RCCW)—monitor the spots of your vision that are hard to see and provide helpful warnings.

Other features, however, take the initiative and act automatically to help you prevent accidents. One such feature is Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection (PED). This feature uses radar to monitor what’s in front of you on the road. When it detects a pedestrian or another vehicle, you’ll get a warning before the system automatically engages the emergency braking.

A few other autonomous features you’ll get are Lane Keeping Assist and High Beam Assist.
