What Does Kids Coalition Against Hunger Do?

In 1999, Kids Against Hunger was founded as a Michigan satellite of the Minneapolis-based organization of the same name. The goal was to grow the organization across the country by packaging food for local communities facing food scarcity.

As the Michigan satellite, they became a much larger organization, renaming themselves Kids Coalition Against Hunger in 2016. Today, they organize food-packaging events to provide food for over 100 food pantries in the eastern half of the United States. In addition to that, they also provide food to people in 23 additional countries.

Thanks to their advanced food packaging, they’re able to provide meal that are nutritious, easy to transport, and simple to prepare. They even consider dietary restrictions in their food preparation, accounting for religious dietary requirements as well as the tastes of many different cuisines around the world.

If you’re looking for a way to help this organization, you can provide a monetary donation to help fund their food purchases. If you’d like to aid in the food-packaging process, you can also sign up as a volunteer to take part in a packaging event.

Do you manage a charity of your own? If you’d like to help with the distribution of food provided by this organization, you can plan a food-packaging event for your organization.

A third of the food provided will go to local food pantries with the second third going to over 23 countries where this organization operates. The final third will be stored for emergencies during disaster relief efforts.
