Active Faith Community Service: The Mission
First thing’s first…the mission statement: “[Their] mission is to provide long-term and temporary assistance to those who have fallen on difficult times in hopes of returning them to the independent pursuit of their life’s goals.” One main way of doing this is by fighting hunger, one hungry belly at a time.

• History: Ten local pastors founded Active Faith as a non-denominational non-profit back in 1987.
• Region: They primarily serve the South Lyon Community School District, an 83-square-mile rural region that includes six municipalities in parts of Oakland, Livingston, and Washtenaw counties.
• Distribution: If you had to guess, how many pounds of food would you say volunteers could distribute to about 140 households in a single year? In 2018, that number was 165,572 pounds…
• Volunteers: And how many hours would you say their volunteers log in a year? A total of 5,000…
