Eagles for Children
Who says you can’t change the world from the green? With Eagles for Children, golf clubs are working to donate money the more you improve on your short game. This organization raises funds through golf clubs to help provide for children in need.
If you’d like to learn more about what this organization can do for you, we’re eager to introduce you to the many ways this charity is working to change the lives of kids every day.
How Did Eagles for Children Get Started
The story of Eagles for Children begins in 2010 when Hal Zaima saw a PGA Golf Tournament that was hosted by St. Jude Children’s Hospital. What was unique about this tournament was that each athlete pledged to donate $1,000 for each eagle they scored to the hospital. This led to a significant donation, and Mr. Zaima thought he could make an improvement on the concept.
He thought that, instead of having players make a large donation for every eagle, a greater impact could be made if private golf clubs made a small donation for every eagle. He found that, if all 4,000 private golf clubs in the US participated in the program, people could donate millions to children’s charities across the country.
Today, Eagles for Children has worked hard to partner with golf clubs in the area to help provide donations to local charities. They’ve managed to provide hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of donations each year, ensuring that children are provided with the quality of life they deserve.
How Does Eagles for Children Work?
So, how exactly does this program work to fundraise? It all starts when a club pledges to provide a small donation for every eagle scored in the season. One hundred percent of the proceeds are then delivered to groups that are working to help children in the community of the golf club. It’s a fantastic way to not only have some fun but also to get engaged with your community.
How Can You Get Involved?
There are a number of ways you can get involved to help Eagles for Children make a difference in your community. If you’re a golf club manager, the best way to get involved is to participate in the program and pledge to make donations for every eagle scored.
If you’re a golfer, a great way to help out is to play at clubs that are participating in this program. This is an easy way to help children in your community simply by playing a round of golf with your friends.
For people who aren’t club members, you can still help out by providing a one time or monthly donation. This can be a very proactive way to ensure that this organization is able to reach its donation goals.
